ICT Hub Commissioned in Shamva as Government Accelerates Digital Transformation in Schools
The Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, Hon. Tatenda A. Mavetera, joined the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Hon. Torerai Moyo, for the commissioning of a state-of-the-art ICT Hub at JITI High School in Shamva, Mashonaland Central Province
The event marked a significant milestone in Government’s drive to accelerate digital transformation within the education sector. The collaboration between the two Ministries underscores the importance of teamwork as a cornerstone for sustainable progress and national development. More than just a technological upgrade, the ICT Hub represents a long-term investment in both learners and educators. It is designed to bridge the digital divide, enhance access to online learning resources, and equip students with critical 21st-century skills necessary to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
The newly commissioned facility — the first of its kind in the area — is a fully containerised ICT hub outfitted with 40 high-end computers, a 10KVA solar power system to ensure uninterrupted power supply, and high-speed Starlink internet connectivity. The initiative reflects the Government’s #WholeOfGovernment approach, which fosters collaboration among public institutions and the private sector to advance national development priorities. The project was spearheaded by Ground Force Industrial and aligns with the Ministry of ICT, Postal and Courier Services’ mandate to expand digital infrastructure and improve nationwide connectivity, particularly in underserved communities.
Following the commissioning ceremony at JITI High School, the Ministry extended its outreach to Wadzanai High School, also in Shamva. The school received a donation of computers, a Starlink kit, printers, and a whiteboard to further strengthen teaching and learning.
The developments signal Government’s continued commitment to leveraging technology as a catalyst for inclusive education, innovation, and socio-economic transformation.
